PLATELET-RICH PLASMA (PRP)
TREATMENT INTERVAL
-
2-3 treatments; spaced 4-6 weeks apart
RISKS OF THE PROCEDURE
-
Infection: As with any injection, there is a small risk of infection.
-
Pain or Discomfort: Some patients may experience temporary pain or swelling at the injection site.
-
Allergic Reaction: Since PRP is derived from the patient’s own blood, allergic reactions are extremely rare. However, reactions to any anesthetics used are possible.
-
Nerve or Tissue Damage: There is a small risk of nerve or tissue damage, particularly if the injection is not accurately placed. Using ultrasound guidance greatly reduces this risk.
-
Ineffectiveness: >80% of patients are satisfied with their results, however, PRP may not work for everyone.
-
Bleeding or Bruising: Minor bleeding or bruising at the injection site may occur. Significant bleeding events are rare.
-
Dizziness: Some degree of temporary and self limited dizziness is very common for any procedure involving the neck.
PROLOTHERAPY (PROLO)

BOTOX-TREATMENT OF THE FRONTALIS AND THE HEAVY FOREHEAD
The frontalis muscle is responsible for the formation of forehead lines and plays a key role in raising the eyebrows. Following your Botox injections, it is normal to experience a sensation of heaviness in the forehead and eyelids within the first two weeks.
This sensation can occur due to several factors:
-
The relaxation of the frontalis (forehead) muscle
-
Reduced ability to use the frontalis to lift the eyelids (e.g., when applying mascara)
-
Unconscious daily habits that may be impacted by frontalis relaxation, such as elevating the brows.
The feeling of heaviness or tightness is commonly experienced by patients and is often interpreted as the Botox "kicking in." This sensation typically resolves within 2-4 weeks as the body adjusts to the relaxation of the treated muscles.
Additionally, mild eyelid or eyebrow puffiness may occur in the day following treatment, but this usually self-resolves after a few days.
FIRST TIMERS
It is important to remember that Botox works by relaxing muscles, which inherently reduces the muscle control one has of their face. This sensation may take some time to get used to, but you can expect this feeling to subside after 3-5 weeks.
WHAT CAN YOU DO IF YOU EXPERIENCE HEAVINESS?
If you are still experiencing a sensation of heaviness 2 weeks after treatment, you can gently raise your eyebrows, followed by 30s of rapid blinking. You can do this four times a day for 2-4 days, but be careful not to overdo it.
Additionally, for your future treatments, we can choose to use less toxin, making your forehead less smooth. This would minimize or eliminate the sensation of heaviness.
It is important to note, that with a lower dose, your forehead lines will not be totally smooth and you will have significantly more movement.
